Blanket Project

November 2023

For the second year in a row, Burning Hope provided handmade, no sew fleece blankets through The Blanket Project to comfort kids suffering from CRPS or other pain-afflicting diseases.

Burning Hope not only sent blankets to the Cleveland Clinic, but expanded the project by sending blankets to children in pain programs at the Children's Hospitals of Seattle and Dallas as well.

The Blanket Project invited people to make handmade, no-sew, fleece blankets for children who are suffering from CRPS or other pain-afflicting diseases in hopes of giving these kids a sense of comfort and love during such a trying time in their lives.

Burning Hope received 235 blankets from people all across the country. Due to this kindness, 235 children will receive comfort in such a difficult time in their lives.

Additional blankets are given to the Ronald McDonald House which hosts children and their families attending these program.

This year, a Burning Hope label is sewn onto each blanket. This will allow the children and their families to connect with Burning Hope and join a community that spreads hope, awareness, and support for CRPS warriors.

Walk Strong

May 2023

This was Burning Hopeโ€™s second year organizing Walk Strong to support the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA) and the Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) community.

To take Walk Strong to the next level, we increased our goal to $15,000 this year. Through raising this money, we not only brought awareness to this awful disease, but we funded research and treatment options for people suffering from CRPS.

Walk Strong โ€˜23 surpassed our goal by raising over $17,000, and having 120 participants.

We are beyond thankful for the many people who donated and participated! The best part of Walk Strong โ€™23 was connecting with with CRPS warriors and seeing all of the people without CRPS supporting this community.

RSDSAโ€™s mission is to provide support, education, and hope to all affected by the pain and disability of CRPS/RSD, while we drive research to develop better treatments and a cure. Learn more about RSDSA here.

Blanket Project

November 2022

After I was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and lost the ability to walk, I went to the Cleveland Clinic. This place is special to me because it was there that I learned how to walk again.

While I was there, I received my own fleece blanket. This blanket gave me comfort, knowing that I wasn't alone, and there were people out there who wanted me to get better. From this, came The Blanket Project.

It became my mission to give back to the place that helped me take my life back and continues to make my dreams possible.

The Blanket Project invited people to make handmade, no-sew, fleece blankets for children at the Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Pain Program who are suffering from CRPS or other pain-afflicting diseases in hopes of giving these kids a sense of comfort and love during such a trying time in their lives.

Additional blankets were given to the Ronald McDonald House that hosts children and their families attending this program. My family was thankful to have the Ronald McDonald House while I was at the Cleveland Clinic for six weeks. We had such a great response, that we also gave blankets to the Ronald McDonald House in Dallas!

Best of all, I was able to travel to the Cleveland Clinic and hand deliver some of the blankets to current patients in the pain program. Sharing the comfort I had found in my blanket with others was such a joy!

Walk Strong

April 2022

In early February of 2022, over a year before I started my nonprofit, Burning Hope, I had an idea for an event, something to help me in my passion to give back.

I wanted to host a walk to raise money for people suffering from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

First thing was to contact Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA). They were willing to help me get it started, and suggested the money could be put to good use for research.

There were so many people willing to help, my teammate was ready to do the artwork, my mom was ready to run errands to gather all of the supplies, my family friend wanted to make balloon displays, and with the help of friends and family we began to post the event on social media. Before I knew it, people started donating money and registering for the event.

My goal was to get 100 participants, and raise $10,000.

We did it!

And even surpassed our goal with 107 walkers, raising over $13,500!

It was such an exciting day! I was filled with so many emotions; relief, excitement, thankfulness and the list goes on.
